Stick Bread

Mmmm, yummy! Grilled bread on a stick should not be missing from your cookout. The recipe comes from the book Vegan Grillen by Kristina Unterweger.


  • 250 g whole wheat meal
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 2 tsp salt
  • ½ cane sugar
  • 3 tsp fenugreek Clover or other bread seasoning
  • 350 ml lukewarm water
  • 6 cm sticks
  • aluminum foil for wrapping


  • Mix flour with dry yeast and then mix with the remaining ingredients. With an electric mixer (dough hook) mix another 5 minutes. Cover and let rise in a warm place.

  • Wrap sticks with aluminum foil, knead the dough again and portion into 6 pieces. Wrap each piece of dough around one of the sticks.

  • Grill the stick bread 10-15 minutes, turning frequently.
