Halloween-Chocolate Muffins

Coated with the finest dark chocolate, sprinkled with chocolate crumbles and decorated with liquorice sticks: Those chocolate muffins are turned into spiders for Halloween. This is no witchcraft. Step by step we will show you, how you can easily make these muffins on your own at home.

For the batter
  • 200 g flour
  • 1 sachet baking powder
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 100 g chocolate drops or chopped dark chocolate
  • 2 tbsp. soy flour
  • 120 g sugar
  • 100 g Margarine soft
  • 2 sachets vanilla sugar
  • 250 ml soy drink
For the spiders
  • chocolate glaze dark
  • chocolate crumbs dark
  • sticks vegan
  • marzipan paste
  • chocolate drops
For the ghosts
  • marzipan paste
  • chocolate drops
  • mocca beans


  • First mix flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, chocolate drops and soy flour in a bowl. In another bowl, mix sugar, soft margarine and vanilla sugar with a blender.

  • Fold the liquid ingredients in the dry ones with a mixer and slowly add soy flour until you get a thick batter.

  • Distribute the batter in muffin cups and bake the muffins at 180°C for 20-25 minutes.

  • For the spider look, spread the melted chocolate glaze on the cooled muffins and dip them in chocolate crumbs. For each muffin, cut 8 liquorice sticks into 5 cm long pieces. Make 4 holes on each side of the muffin and stick in the liquorice pieces. You might need to coat the muffins with more chocolate glaze. Make eyes out of marzipan paste and stick them on each muffin. Press the chocolate drops as pupils on the eyes.

  • For the ghosts, cut out 15-20cm diameter large and thin circles of the marzipan paste. Place each circle on the muffins, make the veil look like ghosts. Finally, press chocolate drops for the eyes and one mocca bean for the mouth on each muffin.
