Fried Chinese Noodles In A Box

You've definitely got to dry this "to-go" recipe by Attila Hildmann from his book Vegan To Go. You can find Mie noodles at Veganz naturally, and the prep time is much shorter than spaghetti. The noodles also taste good cold. And for the finishing touch, grab some Chinese to-go boxes from your local Asian food shop and fill them with your super tasty fried noodles to get the full experience!

Ingredients for the Seitan
  • 110 g seitan
  • 1 tsp margarine organic
  • 1 tsp Asian spice mix
  • ½ tsp soy sauce
For the pasta
  • 250 g Mie noodles organic and without egg
  • sea salt
  • ½ carrot approximately 40 g
  • ¼ red pepper approximately 40 g
  • 100 g Chinese cabbage
  • 1 spring onion
  • 4 tsp olive oil
  • 140 g bean sprouts
  • 1 tsp Asian spice mix
  • 6 tsp soy sauce mild


  • Cook the pasta in boiling salted water according to package directions for about 3 minutes until al dente, then strain through a sieve and rinse with cold water.

  • Cut the seitan into thin strips.

  • Heat margarine in a pan.

  • Fry seitan for about 4 minutes until crisp. Season with Asian seasoning and soy sauce.

  • Peel the carrot and cut into fine strips.

  • Wash, core and thinly slice the peppers.

  • Wash cabbage and spring onion and also cut into fine strips.

  • Heat the olive oil in a pan and fry the vegetables for about 3 minutes over high heat.

  • Add the noodles and sprouts and fry for another 3 minutes. Add Asian seasoning and soy sauce and also fry 1 minute.

  • Finally, stir in the seitan and serve.
