Erik’s Thrive Diet – Week 1
My first week doing the Thrive Diet is here and it’s going great! Well, maybe it’s because of the awesome weather and tours we’ve done since arriving on Mallorca…but the food can also take credit!
My day usually starts with a big, delicious fruit-rich cereal like the Banana-Pear-Ginger Muesli from Brendan Brazier’s book, Vegan in Topform. Pears, bananas, persimmons and also a colorful mix of nuts and seeds (hemp flour, flaxseed, walnuts, almonds) are all added to the bowl.
In particular, hemp seeds and hemp flour (which for me are somewhat unusual ingredients) give the muesli a particularly interesting taste. A fresh smoothie completes the delicious and nutritious breakfast and forms the basis for our daily trips.
I also keep delicious energy balls (in different varieties) safely stored in my Veganz gym bag while out on my trips. These are especially great on longer tours when you can really work up an appetite.
The energy balls can be made with as little as 3-5 ingredients, which is definitely an advantage. Taste-wise they are not boring, and you can always switch up some of the ingredients (almonds instead of cashews, or chlorella instead of wheat grass). And every day I look forward to these little treats in my supply bag!
Approximately 10 energy balls can be made by mixing these ingredients together in a blender:
125g cashews (can be found at the Veganz nut bar)
3 TBSP hemp seeds (by TerraSana for example)
2 TBSP chlorella (by Naturya for example)
All products can naturally be found at your local Veganz supermarket.
Summary of my first week: no food cravings and wholesome regeneration. So I can go forward 🙂
